The Trilbii team is growing, and we are excited about who has joined us. Binh has come on board as an intern, and she has already made herself very hard to do without.
Right now she is testing the platform for bugs, which is a polite way of saying she is finding all the things Anthony and I had quietly decided were fine. She is very good at it. At this rate she will have the pair of us out of a job by Christmas.
Why a fresh set of eyes matters
When you build something every day, you stop seeing it. You know where the awkward bits are, so you steer around them without noticing. You know what the button means, so you never wonder whether anyone else would.
Someone new does not have that. Binh comes to each screen the way a practice manager would come to it, on a Tuesday afternoon with the phone ringing and a patient at the desk. If a step is confusing, she says so. If something breaks, she writes down exactly what she did before it broke, which anyone who has ever chased a bug report will tell you is worth a great deal.
That is the value of an intern who is genuinely curious rather than simply ticking off placement hours. We are getting better software out of it, and the practices who use Trilbii are the ones who benefit.
Working with Macquarie University
We have been fortunate to work with students from Macquarie University, and Binh is a good example of why. The calibre has been high, the enthusiasm is real, and the questions we get asked are often the ones we should have been asking ourselves.
For a company our size, that access matters. We are not a large team. Everyone touches the product, everyone hears from customers, and there is nowhere to hide a task that nobody has picked up. Bringing in capable people who want to learn, and giving them work that actually counts, is one of the better decisions we have made.
What growing the team means for Trilbii
Trilbii exists to take the administrative load off dental practices so the team can get back to patients. That is a wide brief, and it only gets delivered by people who care about the detail: the wording on a template, the order of the steps, the thing that almost works but not quite.
Adding people to the team is how that detail gets attention. Binh is testing today. There will be more of this, and we will keep saying yes to good people who want to build something useful.
